Sidney joined our family on Father's Day weekend, not exactly the gift my husband had in mind, but she instantly charmed him. On Saturday night we all knew that Sid was here to stay, after spending several hours sleeping on a dog bed in the bedroom, she leapt up on the bed and joined us for the rest of the night. Since then she has gradually taken over other comfortable sleeping spots, her favorite being the wing chair in the bedroom, but she always returns to sleep with us early in the morning.
She and Barney, our senior Brew Beagle, started out a bit rocky, many vocal exchanges, but Sid soon realized that Barney is the Alpha Dog of the house and has become much more respectful of him. She loves to go for walks in the park, looking for chipmunks and squirrels, but luckily she is learning not to chase them anymore, for which I am thrilled. She also is an avid "Arm Chair Hunter" spending hours either on a bed looking out the window or on the deck watching for rabbits, chipmunks or squirrels. When she spots something she "sings" with excitement.
She has the most endearing way of begging; she sits next to you and just touches your leg gently with her nose and looks up at you with her soulful brown eyes. She really has the best qualities of her Beagle/Springer Spaniel heritage.
A Special Thanks to Leanne for bringing Sidney into the B.O.N.E.S. program and into our lives, she really is a very special little gal and greatly loved by all of us.
