Bob

Bob More than eleven years ago, we rescued Bob the Beagle. I remembered looking at the first pictures of him with his foster parents on a sailboat. I must have been on the phone with his foster mom for two or three hours making sure he wasn't loud or overly active. B.O.N.E.S. claimed he was two years old; I was nervous he would be too puppy-ish.

We decided to go forward and adopt him, a decision I will never regret. I'm not sure who rescued whom! He won over every person who ever met him. He was such a sweet guy.

Much to my boys' displeasure, he became my dog, my protector. He would run and play with them but had to have me in his sight, and would follow me all over the house. Every morning for eleven years, he was my walking partner and confidante. While he was not very at giving advice, he was a great listener through a divorce and our becoming an empty nester. He and I would walk the canal, hike in the forest, and go on various road trips. His unconditional love was never ending.

A year-and-a-half ago my loving boy was diagnosed with diabetes. He was such a trooper with two shots a day and a new diet. No more cookies, cantaloupe, or treats! However, his sugar continued to remain high and he developed other problems. This past October I had to let him go. It was his time.

I want to thank B.O.N.E.S. for allowing my family to give him "a forever home"!

He was truly an incredible addition.
