We remember those who have given generously of their time and energies to the work of B.O.N.E.S. and who have inspired others by their example and their friendship.

This page is dedicated to Jill Wight, a long time B.O.N.E.S. volunteer and foster mom. On April 10, 2013, Jill passed away at the age of 35 after a hard fought battle with a lifelong illness.
Jill will be remembered for her level of compassion and kindness for the 79 foster beagles that resided with her, however temporarily. B.O.N.E.S. could always count on Jill and her husband David to accept even the most difficult cases and to go out of their way to help in whatever capacity. Examples of their dedication include the following stories, which are only a fraction of their work with B.O.N.E.S.
- David drove over 6 hours to assist in the rescue of the Limington Beagles. These beagles were in such poor condition that David was forced to drive with the windows open in the middle of the winter due to the overwhelming smell (which took many months to subside from the vehicle). David and Jill took some of these beagles in as fosters nursing them back to health. Jill personally helped to ensure that they were given special loving homes. - Jill was always willing to take on the responsibility of a pregnant beagle. She would deliver the pups and raise them until they were ready for adoption. Her puppies were always raised not only with love and a happy home, but with excellent manners; they did not jump on people and you could always clip their toenails.
- David and Jill would drive all over the state to attend or conduct BARKS, an outreach program by B.O.N.E.S. to educate the public on the mission of the organization. They were also regional volunteer coordinators for the central Maine area.
Though 79 beagles passed through their door, each one was treated as special. One particular puppy from one of their litters especially touched Jill and David; his name was T-Bone. He was the runt of the litter and had some serious health issues. Jill and David kept him as their own. He was only with them for nine weeks but made a very special impression on all who knew his story. Here is his tribute.
Through all of the wonderful things that Jill did for B.O.N.E.S., she wished she could do more. All those who knew her will miss her and the beagles who never met her will miss her most.
