Hudson was rescued by B.O.N.E.S. from a bad situation in Limington, ME. After the gentleman called 911 (and subsequently passed away), the local ACO found 20 dogs living in squalid conditions.
B.O.N.E.S. took most of them and found them new homes. Overall, Hudson was in very good shape but when he had his physical, they found a serious mast cell tumor in his nose. As much as possible was removed.
B.O.N.E.S. wanted to find a wonderful home for Hudson and we did. John is a long-haul trucker that had lost his beagle companion of 13 years. He wanted a new companion. Luckily John found Hudson (or Hudson found John). It was a wonderful match. Hudson reported in regularly, and we share his "Chronicles" on this page.
Happy New Year everyone. I hope everyone had a nice holiday.
John and I went down to Wells, ME and spent Christmas with John's sister and her family. I had a good time with Shadow, Toby and Chloe. I can never remember how to spell her name, so I'll just blame John if it's wrong. I have visited enough that I'm welcomed by them all right away. It's even quiet at meal time with no territory disputes. John went to get his mom on Christmas day and brought her to the house. Her ankle is healing well and she tackled the three flights of stairs without any problem. it was a nice, quiet, Christmas.
We were supposed to do a quick trip down to NJ the week before Christmas, but that got postponed until the first of the year. There wasn't much going on for local work, so our dismal year ended early.
Since my last update, I had a nice surprise happen to me. John got a call from Abby who saw we were headed to RI to pick up a load. She wanted to get together for a quick visit. Abby has Clark, who was rescued from Limington along with the rest of us. We have seen each other at the bashes, but since we missed is years bash, it was fun to see Abby, Kevin and of course, Clark. She even had a new collar, and a comfy blanket for me to keep in the truck. Thanks!
We then loaded some machinery going to Arkansas. From there, we loaded a bulldozer going to GA. it was over sized so We ordered our permits and were on our way. John pulled into a weigh station and got the red light at the scale. An inspector came out and asked for John's permits. She walked back and was checking the truck, load, etc. when she stopped and did a double-take. She walked to the rear of the trailer, checked the license plate, and started walking back. she stopped again, shook her head and headed back to the truck. John had chained down his Tonka bulldozer behind the full sized dozer on the trailer. When the inspector got to the truck, she handed back the permits and suggested that the second dozer might need more than just one chain. She laughed and thanked John for making her day. We were off again and delivered the dozer the next day.
We were going to head to Nebraska to get an irrigation system coming back to a local farm. However, John got a call from the Sheriffs department. Apparently, someone broke into the house! They recovered some property, which included a safe with some of John's documents. The thief was caught and the property was recovered. The sheriff asked John if he had any valuables, computers, etc. John laughed and said that the computer was with him in the truck and that he didn't have much. Just a 25 year old TV and a 30 year old stereo. The thief also stole John's broken laptop and his 30 year old typewriter. He wasn't too smart, in my opinion. He couldn't even read the new door mat that John's sister gave him! I don't want to rub it in while John is going through these tough times but who else could get robbed and have nothing worth stealing! I expect the word to get around in the robbers world and they will probably start dropping stuff off instead of robbing him!
Well, I guess I should leave poor John alone for now, so I'll sign off for now.
Happy New Year!
Hudson, the semi-beagle
