Hudson, the Semi-Beagle Hudson was rescued by B.O.N.E.S. from a bad situation in Limington, ME. After the gentleman called 911 (and subsequently passed away), the local ACO found 20 dogs living in squalid conditions. B.O.N.E.S. took most of them and found them new homes. Overall, Hudson was in very good shape but when he had his physical, they found a serious mast cell tumor in his nose. As much as possible was removed. B.O.N.E.S. wanted to find a wonderful home for Hudson and we did. John is a long-haul trucker that had lost his beagle companion of 13 years. He wanted a new companion. Luckily John found Hudson (or Hudson found John). It was a wonderful match. Hudson reported in regularly, and we share his "Chronicles" on this page.

Hudson's Chronicles - January, 2013 Good morning from Florida. John and I have been running back and forth from Ft Worth, Tx to Palmetto, FL for the last few weeks. It's always nice to be able stay south during the cold weather.

We started out the new year going after the load in NJ that was postponed before the holidays. John found a front end loader in NH going to NJ that we were going to load on a Sunday afternoon. We Got to Gorham, NH where the loader was and found out that the machine wouldn't start. It was an auction item and the owners were overseas and there was nobody around to help. The batteries were completely dead and we couldn't even jump start the machine. After several hours, John and the broker realized that there was nothing to be done. We cut our losses and headed to New Jersey empty. Not a good way to start the new year.

Monday, we loaded a couple machines going up to Connecticut. From there, We had to head out to Texas to get the first of several loads going to Florida. John found three partials over the next few days going out to Arkansas and Texas. On our way through Tennessee, John stopped to fuel and while he was inside I saw a trucker with two bassets traveling with him. I started barking and they heard me and started barking too. Finally, John came out and got me and we went over to get acquainted. Molly, Sissey and I spent the next hour running all through the thicket hunting rabbits, squirrels and what ever else there was. We never found anything, but it sure was fun anyway!

The next day,we made our two deliveries in Little Rock and Cove, AR and made our final delivery in Burleson, TX. the following day. From there we went to Ft Worth to get the first of several loads headed for Palmetto FL. One of John's local customers has scrap yards all over the east coast and is building another one in Florida. The materials are manufactured in Ft Worth, So that means we can work in the warmer weather during the winter, which is always nice.

After we loaded we had an uneventful trip down to Palmetto. It was a two day run and we delivered the third day. John had some trouble finding loads back toward Texas, but finally, he got us moving again. We were able to stop in Austin, TX and spend a Saturday afternoon with John's niece Sarah, and her boyfriend Si. I keep telling John he is spelling his name wrong. John is only saying yes in spanish, He insists that Si is short for Simon.

If I didn't have paws, I would be doing one hundred per cent of these chronicles!

Hudson's Chronicles - January, 2013Anyway, enough of that. We made our two deliveries on Monday and scheduled to load the second load back to Florida. This load was oversize, but the permits came in quickly, and it was a nice, uneventful trip across. We delivered Thursday morning, and John found a couple of scissor lifts going to New Jersey. He lined a couple more partials Monday, in North Carolina, going up into Pennsylvania. We have to take a break from the southern freight to cover some loads he is committed to, one of which is a plow truck in upstate New York coming back home to Durham. I guess it's back to the reality of snow and cold.

That wraps it up for now.

Hudson, the semi-Beagle.
