Hurricane Ian's remnants were no match for the nearly 100 beagles and 167 of their human friends who braved the elements and attended the 18th annual Beagle Bash on Saturday, October 1st. Although the weather was drizzly and cool, the beagles didn't hesitate to check out the doggie games, massage, and photography booths while their human companions enjoyed pizza and snacks at the food concessions table. Although these activities were originally planned for the grounds of the Collinswood K-9 Services in Auburn MA, Bash coordinator Robin Brousseau, a long-time B.O.N.E.S. volunteer, found ample space inside for the games, doggie massage and photography, and food concessions.
Highlights included 25 raffle baskets, featuring Snoopy and beagle-related items to food, chocolate, books, games, and wine themes. Several silent auction items, including beagle paintings and sporting event tickets, attracted a number of bids.
Authors Elizabeth Rodenz and Christina Donato had their recent books about the sagas of their respective rescue dogs on display for Bash attendees.
Sensational Senior Beagles (SSB) director Sherri Axcell provided information to those interested in the benefits of giving a senior beagle their forever home. Several current foster dogs attended the Bash in hopes of meeting prospective new families.
The B.O.N.E.S. Board of Directors extends sincere appreciation to Robin Brousseau for her tireless efforts in coordinating the annual event, and to the volunteers who coordinated the doggie games, and worked the registration, merchandise, raffle basket and silent auction, information, and concession tables. A shout-out goes to photographer Erin Mathieu and Tunde Cser, doggie massage tech, for their participation in the event.
All proceeds from the Bash support the B.O.N.E.S. mission of providing foster homes, medical care and supported adoptions for beagles seeking their forever homes.
