ACO/SHELTER FORM
OWNER SURRENDER FORM

It is our hope that you will keep your pet as we consider pet ownership a lifelong commitment. Please read this page for assistance in keeping your beagle.

However, we understand that there are circumstances that arise which make it necessary to remove your pet from your home. Once you have come to the decision to relinquish your pet to us, we ask for you to complete our online form.

If you are an ACO or Shelter, please complete this form.

After reviewing your completed forms, if necessary, a B.O.N.E.S. representative will call for a telephone interview and may arrange a visit to your home to meet you and your dog.

At this time we will require a copy of the beagle's medical records, including shot records and proof of spay or neuter, faxed from your vet. You may be asked to have more tests or certain vaccines completed. This is due to state laws on the importation of domestic animals and the particular state your beagle will be moved to for a foster home.

If your beagle is not a fit for B.O.N.E.S., we will let you know and the representative may have further suggestions on for your dog or your specific situation.

If your beagle does fit in our program, we will contact you again to request the following:

  • Recent photos of your dog so we can add him/her to our web site!
This will speed up the adoption process.
  • A donation to B.O.N.E.S.
This is to help us continue to rescue beagles. Your donation is tax-deductible. We request $75, but the amount is up to you.

After all of this is completed, we will bring your beagle into our program. B.O.N.E.S. is a foster home-based rescue and there is no guarantee that we will be able to place him/her in a foster home immediately. There are currently dogs on our waiting list that are in other homes, shelters and pounds, and some of these dogs have been waiting for weeks. This is not a fast process and in most cases a family wanting assistance placing a dog will be asked to keep the dog until we are able to find an adoptive family. NOTE: We reserve the right to place beagles in foster homes on a triage, rather than a first-come/first-served basis.

If you are providing the foster home for your beagle, here is the adoption process:

  • Once we have a potential B.O.N.E.S. adopter, an Adoption Counselor will contact you via phone or e-mail to ask additional questions to make sure the dog is a good match.
  • If someone shows an interest in your beagle once the dog is on the B.O.N.E.S. website, please direct him/her to the B.O.N.E.S. website (www.bonesbeagles.org) to begin the B.O.N.E.S. application process. Please remember that we screen all adopters to ensure that we place your beagle in the best possible home.
  • Once we have found your beagle an adopter, we will arrange for him/her to be transported to the new home.
