Kingsley & Missy

Kingsley & Missy Eight years ago, I adopted both Kingsley & Macy (f/k/a Missy) from B.O.N.E.S.. I question who rescued whom.

Kingsley

Kingsley was on death row in Alabama when Second Chance Boxer Rescue paid a visit to his open intake, high kill shelter. Fortunately, they had an open cage, and Kingsley a/k/a Kingy Bob (pronounced with a deep southern drawl) began the long journey north all the way to Maine. After arriving in a February blizzard with a yellow tail (guess he had a bottom cage), he immediately lost his manhood. Talk about culture shock!

Kingsley & MissyWithin a month of adoption, he received a casting call from a famous Hollywood actress. She was putting together a dog product catalog, and a handsome beagle was needed.

Voila! Just like that, Kingsley was now a star modelling heated dogbeds in a catalog and on the internet. That led to several other gigs for him. And today, at an estimated ripe old age of 15, he still has runway looks.

Macy

Missy's tag line at B.O.N.E.S. was, "Well, not quite a beagle..."

Kingsley & MissyAnd she is so much more. As a beagle-rotty mix (a/k/a rottweagle) she has the sweet disposition of a beagle, but the loyalty of a Rottweiler. And, her first Mom must have taught her about kissing. At the first annual Portland Maine Valentine's Day Kissing contest, Macy knocked the judge to the ground and proceeded to draw a "no-mas" cry from the judge being furiously being licked from chin to forehead. She outkissed 100 others to win paws down and get her Dad a few restaurant gift certificates and some toys for herself.

And with her supermodel looks, she had a brief career on the catwalk too. (Ok... poochwalk.)

I can't thank B.O.N.E.S. enough for the joy brought to my life by these ever-loving companions!
