We love to hear from stories from our adopters! Each one of these beagles touches our lives in a special way - hearing the "Happy Tails" makes everything we do worthwhile! Below are just a few examples of some of our happy beagle tails!

Do you have your own Happy Tail story about adopting a B.O.N.E.S. beagle that you'd like to share? Please send it, along with any pictures, to happytails@bonesbeagles.org.
Three years ago, we applied to B.O.N.E.S. to adopt an older beagle to join our family, which already included our beagle Molly. Molly had endeared us to the beagle breed, and taught us that humans must always think one step ahead of their beagle, or else the grilled cheese sandwich will disappear off your plate, the backyard fence will be climbed to chase after a deer, and cupboards will be opened with the swipe of a paw. Once we met the challenge that NO food is safe near a beagle, and their powerful noses can take them into danger that they must be protected against, we fell madly in love with the happy, loving, sporty nature of the breed, and particularly in love with Molly.
We now considered ourselves beagle savvy, and it was time to add to the family. Many phone calls and emails were exchanged with our adoption counselor Ibby, and soon we were matched with a petite 9-10 year old beagle with a spunky personality named Snoopy. We met Snoopy standing in a parking lot on a cold January day, her big ears blowing back in the wind, and she quickly wormed her way into our hearts. She is our sparkly little gem, and she rules the house. Some days we refer to her as the Four Paw General, but mostly she just wants to earn her name "The Snuggle Beagle". We admit, she sleeps in the bed, often under covers, and her snoring sounds like a skipping chain saw.
After our beloved beagle Molly passed away, Snoopy was an only dog for 5 months, and then we returned to B.O.N.E.S.. Enter Herbie... He was found as a stray, and the shelter contacted B.O.N.E.S. to help them place an older beagle, age 10 or so. Herbie has overcome fears as he learned he is in a safe place, and it has been rewarding to see his confidence bloom. He is very different from Snoopy, he is big and goofy, eats all sorts of things he shouldn't, and has the most gentle soul. While Snoopy barks excitedly and loudly at squirrels, Herbie yawns. Herbie does not make demands and has no special requests. He just appreciates a soft, warm bed, and a family.
The joy we get from Herbie and Snoopy is immeasurable. The rough spots of adopting new dogs were smoothed out by the unfaltering support we got from Ibby. Through B.O.N.E.S. we have met many wonderful people devoted to helping beagles, and we were impressed at how much an organization of volunteers can accomplish. These experiences also inspired us to join as volunteers to B.O.N.E.S. to do our small part in improving the lives of beagles.
