We love to hear from stories from our adopters! Each one of these beagles touches our lives in a special way - hearing the "Happy Tails" makes everything we do worthwhile! Below are just a few examples of some of our happy beagle tails!
Read all of the Happy Tails by paging through them below (stories are listed from newest to oldest) or click on a name to go to a specific article.
Do you have your own Happy Tail story about adopting a B.O.N.E.S. beagle that you'd like to share? Please send it, along with any pictures, to happytails@bonesbeagles.org.
To All B.O.N.E.S Staffers:
We just wanted to drop you a quick note to say that we had a wonderful adoption experience with your organization. Everyone we came into contact with was such a great help and so knowledgeable about beagle nuances! This was new territory for us – a dog! Henry turned out to be a great choice for us and we thank all of you, especially Jeanne Lemner, for really making sure that the right home was found. We did a lot of research on dogs and breeds and really liked the idea of a beagle. You all made that come true. We even worked on our own set of "rules". I am enclosing a copy of them as written by our seven year old. They're very amusing!
We had a great start since Henry loves to ride in cars and he didn't disappoint! When he first arrived, he explored everywhere. At first, it was slow going for Henry and he spent a lot of time sleeping, when he wasn't being taken for several walks a day, since everyone wanted their own turn! Less than a week here and Henry was really getting into the routine of things. He had found a favorite place to sleep and a favorite place to rest. He has also figured out which closet stores his food and which child is most likely to drop something at the dinner table! Thankfully, that hasn't happened too much! The kids are just as interested in their food as is Henry!
Henry comes to the bus stop daily, walking with us or riding if it's too cold (which has been much of this winter in NH!) He also loves to ride in the car to pick up at preschool. The teachers love him and say what a good dog he is and our five year old just loves the many kisses he gets as a greeting! Henry loves to greet the older kids when they get home from school as well. He will jump up to say hello and plant a few kisses.
Henry loves his daily walks and is very excited when we take his harness and leash out. Sometimes, he even tries to jump into the harness! Henry came to us around 54 pounds and when we visited the vet last week, he was down to 44 pounds! The vet said we are doing a great job and heading in the right direction.
When we've been out for a while, Henry loves to greet us with his howl that seems to say, "Hey, where have you been and why didn't I go?" He loves to relax and have his belly and neck rubbed and is more than willing to give the younger kids a bath, of sorts! Our two oldest boys (12 and 10) are planning on walking in a benefit for the NHSPCA this June, too.
It's obvious that Henry came from a home where he was well loved. We can see that in the way he behaves and treats us.
We are sending along some pictures to share as well. Thanks for everything – Henry is great!
