Adopt a Wonderful Older Beagle

Hello there, my name is Percy, and I am in search of a full-time companion. Well, we don't really have to be together 24 hours a day...maybe just 23! I can't help it, I just adore humans.

One of my favorite things is to give kisses. I overheard my foster mom telling our neighbor that I am an absolute sweetheart. She didn't know I was listening because I was busy sniffing all around the fenced yard. I know a critter passed through here recently... I think it went that way... "such an absolute sweetheart"... oh, I think I see a bunny... "handsome, too." I really do love bunnies – and people, too!

I know some things that will make our time together a bit easier. For example, I am already both house trained and crate trained. I also know the commands "sit" and "down," and I even walk nicely on my leash. Also, I just love to snuggle. What could be better than cuddling with a warm beagle?

Do you like to play? I like toys and games. Sometimes, when I go for a walk, I will take one of my toys along. I walk proudly, displaying my special prize. Another thing I enjoy is playing fetch with a tennis ball. If you throw it, I will chase it down and bring it back to you to throw again. Doesn't that sound like fun? I also love to chew on a really tough toy, especially if it has a squeaker.

I have a couple of quirks that you should know about. I need to be the only dog in my house. I don't mind seeing other dogs while I am walking. I'll just bark at them. I do like cats, though, so if you have a cat, that's perfectly ok. Cats are fun to hang out with! But I like to be the king of my castle.

Although I wish I could say that nothing scares me, the truth is that very loud noises terrify me. I can deal with distant thunder... I just ignore it. However, when the noise is super loud, like the fireworks were on the Fourth of July, it makes me tremble all over. As a matter of fact, I think I was still shaking long after the fireworks ended. Whew, that was traumatic.

All in all, I'm a very good boy. I love treats, and I take them very gently from my human's hand. I accompany my foster mom on several walks every day, but I get most of my energy out by running around the fenced-in yard. I'm always eager to please, and I am happiest when my person is in my sight.
