Shelby We adopted Shelby (formerly Sweetie) so that our other B.O.N.E.S. beagle, Patty, would have a friend.

Shelby was beagle mixed with Jack Russell Terrier - and had the spunk to prove it! She was high-strung and made it known right away that she was in charge.

She had petite little paws, ears, and snoot which prompted the nickname "Pixie" which somehow turned into "Picca" over time. Picca loved vegetables, carrots, especially. Once, when I was cutting up a cauliflower, a quarter of it fell on the floor. She picked it up, trotted away with it, and munched happily on her prize.

Her favorite food was meat of any kind, which was confirmed at the Beagle Bash in 2014 when she was the fastest beagle in the "Bobbing for Weiners" contest. Not bad for a 14-year-old!!

She loved playing tug, and in her younger days, we could lift her off the floor while she held on to the rope with her teeth.

She made it to 15 with only hearing loss before she was diagnosed with cancer. We love her and miss her plucky spirit.
