We love to hear from stories from our adopters!
Each one of these beagles touches our lives in a special way -
hearing the "Happy Tails" makes everything we do worthwhile!

MANDY & TRICIA

We finally got the girls to stand still long enough to get a picture this   weekend.  They're coming along so well now and they seem like they've been   with us forever now, even though its only been a week and a couple of days.   We come home everyday to lots of kisses and wagging tails.   Tricia seems to be slimming down a little now that we've got them taking a   couple of walks everyday.  When we first got them, Tricia had a lot of   trouble going up and down stairs because of her extra weight and we often   had to carry her up and down.  After a week of walking she barely hesitates   on them anymore and goes up and down at will.  She's still got a ways to   go, but she already seems happier (if that's even possible since she's   always got a smile).   Mandy was very shy and reserved when we first got her, but after a week   we've discovered that we have a 9 year old puppy!  She romps and frolics   all over the house.  Every night after we come in from our walk she's still   got tons of energy and will jump around playfully and run all over the   house while Tricia lopes behind her and barks.  Its just sooooo funny and   cute!

Once again, we'd like to thank BONES for bringing our two girls into our   lives.  Keep up the good work!

BESSIE

Hi Sarah
Well Bessie is doing great. She's such a sweet dog. Laura has taught her a few tricks. She will sit on her hind legs with her front paws up and also will shake hands. Laura has also got her to do "down" and is working on roll over. Seems like she s been part of the family for a lot longer than a week already. She loves to go in the car. She is a true beagle when we go for walks, with her nose to the ground the entire time. The whole neighborhood knows her now. We have had a  few funny moments when someone  walks by the yard and Bess starts to "bark". A couple of people have asked if she had asthma or laryngitis. So we explained her story to just about  everyone now.
She seems to get around just fine although I do see her holding up her left front leg on the last few steps of our walk. And that happens more if she is going a little fast for her. I did get some of the sea jerky treats and since she loves treats I figured that was a good way to give her her supplement and make her think she was getting a treat too. Just wanted to let you know how she's doing and how much we love her.   -Lynne

ANDY
Hi-I just wanted to give you an Andy update. We just love him! He is a great boy in the house. He is polite and playful. He is perfectly housebroken. But, boy, he is a wild man outside. We are teaching him not to bark at 6:30 AM on his walk. He escaped, Houdini style, last week and we were worried sick for 1 !/2 hours. I still do not know what happened. When he took off, I still had the leash (intact) in my hand, and he had the harness (intact) on. We wondered if the leash clasp may have opened a little and slipped of, so we got a new leash. The next morning I took him out with 2 leashes! My husband thought I was crazy- but beagle chasing in the woods is no fun. When he was loose, we saw him running through the woods near our house chasing a deer! No amount of calling or deli meat will distract a beagle/lab on the scent of a deer! We definitely need to fence the yard in the spring. This guy is a real runner. Thank you so much for helping us to find Andy- we love him. He has brought  happiness to our home.

HEIDI

Hi All!
Well it has been  2 weeks now and Heidi is doing GREAT.  She and Sunkist act like they have always been together.
On October 1st we will take Heidi to our vet for her "How do you do" visit and to have her eye checked.  Then on October 14th she and Sunkist will go to our groomers.  I called them the other day to see if we could include Heidi in the visit and they were soooooooo excited about Sunkist having a little sister.  We send our dogs every 6 weeks for grooming and teeth brushing.  (Hey, I go to the hairdresser's why not my girls, right?) Sunkist has taught Heidi how to bark when people walk by the house and Heidi has taught Sunkist how to run around and have fun again.  That was something that had been missing since we lost Tara last December.  We were having a hard time getting Sunkist to go for a ride with us if both George and I were not in the van.  Heidi has taken care of that too.
Heidi loves our fenced in backyard and has not attempted to escape.  She is very content to play with Sunkist or just lay in the sun.

I am taking all kinds of pictures and sometime after the 14th of October I will send some along with an update of how everyone is doing. To Leanne, Sarah, Wendy and Rich, thank you for all your help, encouragement and and friendship.  This whole process could not have gone as smoothly as it did without you!!!

Love to All,

Pattie, George, Rob, Sunkist and Heidi

HUNTER

Just thought you would like to know how great things are with our dog. He is so good, we are enjoying him so much. We forgot how wonderful it is to have a dog. Even though we have only had him a few weeks, it seems like we've had him for years. He loves it here. We use a  Harness on him all the time when we walk him and it works great!  If ever there was a perfect match between owner and  dog........we have it with our dog.

HOGAN

Just a note to say hello and tell you thank-you for helping me in my move to Jonesport and my new family.  I am settling in very well and I like my little sister a lot  I have adjusted real well my first week here.  I have a soft bed and sofa to sleep on, lots of treats and lots of love from my new family.  I've gained an extra pound or two and my fur is getting shiner and softer everyday, (My new Mom thinks I may have needed a lot more water?) We have been taking long walks each afternoon when my Mom gets home from work and romps with Kissy around the yard before bedtime.  I had a couple of accidents on the floor, but Mom said it was OK as long as I didn't do it anymore, I looked at her with my big brown eyes, wagged my tail, then she patted my head and smiled so I think she's not disappointed any more.  I'm going to try hard to do what she says, 'cause she tells me I'm a dream come true and my Dad just adores me already.  I got to go to town in the big truck the other day and the girls at the bank  just thought I was soooo... handsome!!!  They gave me lots of cookies!!! I'm real happy here and the kitties like me better than Kissy.  Can you imagine that?  Will send greetings around the Holidays from me and my new family.  Love, Hogan

CHLOE

We wanted to let you know that your last placement is a monumental success! Chloe has settled in so perfectly, it is like she has always been here! She is an absolute delight, easy to have around, easier to love! My mother is head over heels with her...even lets her sleep on her love seat, which was always a big no-no with any other dog! She is definitely house trained, and basically is in the crate for a few hours each day between our leaving for work and my mom  getting up to start spoiling her. Jeff is smitten! He can't give her enough love and belly rubs. Me...I am totally taken with her as well! Sunday night she jumped up onto the bed when I was going to sleep...and immediately burrowed under the covers until she was between my knees! Jeff had to come down to see what I was laughing hysterically about! I cannot thank you, and BONES, enough for this wonderful little beagle-girl!
