Winter 2007

Wrapping, wrapping, wrapping and then there was more wrapping! What kind of wrapping you ask? BONES Volunteers all over New England got in their autos and headed for Barnes and Noble Bookstores as well as Borders Books and wrapped books as well as other presents. What did we charge? A strictly voluntary donation was requested.

Thanks to these stores for providing us with the opportunity and thanks to the folks that contributes. A special thanks to the BONES Volunteers. There are none like them!

Here are some photos from the Rhode Island crew, organized by Sandy Church.

RI Car Wash, July 28

Well our 4th Annual Bones Car Wash was a big success today.  We made a total of $373.89.

This RI group is awesome.  They worked so hard today.  Between standing on the corner holding signs for hours, asking everyone that went by for donations and washing cars in the extreme heat.

New volunteers Kathy and Jeff Arsenault  stopped by with their beagle who was Ginnie before she was adopted.

Thanks to everyone that came out to help today:

Mary Politi, Mark and Kendra Vandervalk, Nancy Choquette and Bob the beagle, Sherrie Cluley, Sara Overgaag,Donna Bowman, Ellen Ross, Mitch and Luann Edwards and Abby Pimental.  Abby made such great signs for us, she is so creative.  We also had Clover,Jake and Hanna greeting customers as they waited for their car to be washed.

We were so happy the weather turned out great.  But boy, phew, was it hot.  Thanks again everyone for giving your time on a beautiful summer day and for bearing the heat.

"Dogs Allowed" July 14, Mashpee, MA

The first annual "Dogs Allowed" event in Mashpee, MA looked to be a big success.  Lots of fun dog activities.  BONES was lucky to be the only Breed Rescue group,  we were right next to the MSPCA booth.  We met lots of nice dog/Beagle lovers and spread the word about BONES on Cape Cod.  We gave out lots of brochures and took in some cash donations.  I have a good lead on an adoption for a nice woman from my local shelter.  I will be working hard to find her a Beagle mix:)

Lisa and BONES Beagle Puppum strutted their stuff down the red carpet with Pupperazzi snapping photos and an announcer tellng Puppums story..of course BONES was mentioned in the announcement.

The the famous Clover hit the runway with Sandi..sporting her Cowgirl costume...again Clover's story was told and BONES got a plug.

Well all I have too say about Saturdays BARK in Pelham , NH is WOW where we busy. I am grateful for Pete Bolis for taking the time too help put and bring along his foster dog Daisy - her picture is to the right. Everyone loved her.

We were the busiest table (out of 9). One of the best visitors has to be the lady and her daughter who saw that BONES was going too be in Pelham, NH (from the webpage) and drove 2 hours from Holyoke MA too meet the beagles of BONES.

BONES also made the local newspaper again. They will run a picture of Daisy with her "Adopt Me" cape on and the link too the BONES website as well.

January 27, 2005 School Visit

Caroline Abely took her two beagles (Brandy and Teddy) and Tom Morrow (and children) brought the family foster, Baker, to the Pelham Elementary School in NH for a visit.

The visit went very well and there where about 60 children for the animal talk who asked very good questions. This was a nice group of children. The staff is dedicated too helping the children be compassionate too animals and too care for all animals.

Baker the beagle /basset being fostered was wonderful and a huge hit. Check out his picture to the right. Is he not the most wonderful dog!!!!!

October 241st B.O.N.E.S. Beagle Bash
More photos from the Haunted Hound Happening Now at 4 pages!

The most recent happening for the end of a wonderful Summer and first year was Bones first ever beagle bash, the "Haunted Hound Happening." This was a great day for Bones volunteers, adopters, and beagles to meet and greet each other. Approximately 135+ people and 75+ beagles were in attendance throughout the afternoon. There were doggie games, silent auctions, raffles, food and nice merchandise to purchase. This years Haunted Hound Happening was the first of many more annual events for Bones volunteers, adopters, and beagles to get together and we look forward to planning next years event.

August 22 - 2nd CAR WASH FOR BONES

Yes, they had so much fun the first time they did it again. Sunday's car wash held in Smithfield, RI yesterday was a successful one for BONES. We raised some much needed money for our beagles while having fun washing cars (and getting each other wet, of course). Lisa Natanson had her foster beagle Trevor and he even helped Lisa wash some cars. We thank so many volunteers who washed cars on their day off. Check out the pictures - especially Trevor who stayed in his little pouch the whole day - what a trooper!

July 17 - CAR WASH FOR BONES

The car wash in Smithfield, RI was a success for B.O.N.E.S.
There were about 12 of us and we had a ball for 3 hours washing cars, trucks, vans and suv's. We tried to get a couple of motorcycles in ...but no go. Needless to say we were also getting each other wet. The day turned out to be a beautiful one and we handed out B.O.N.E.S. brochures to everyone that had their vehicles washed.

We also had a surprise visit from B.O.N.E.S. adopter and volunteers Lisa, Norman and Haylie Breault and their beagle's Cleo and Belle. They were vacationing near by and decided to come and say hello.

THANK YOU to all who came to help out and make it a fun day!!

At the right are a few photos of the day. At the top, some of our fans dropped by to make sure it was going well and we were making money for their friends who have not been adopted yet.

The bottom photo shows that work was actually done!

June 19 - The Bridgeton/Fryeburg, ME Harvest Hills Animal Shelter’s Walk-a-Thon

The Maine weather forced us all inside, but everyone still had a good time.

Eric and Michele Stillman and their Beagle Otis, from MA that paid us a visit. Otis was adopted from the Harvest Hills Shelter a couple of years ago when Eric and Michele had a cabin nearby. They said “Otis is the best thing that ever happened to us”. Otis and Patty (dogs) became friends while Eric and Michele (human) expressed an interest in becoming new BONES volunteers.

Anastasia Quillen, a Harvest Hills volunteer, was happily recruited to walk Patty in the Walk-a-Thon and she helped look after Patty for the rest of the event. As usual, she fell in love with Patty.

One of the day’s highlights was when we had a Canine Police demonstration. During the bite presentation, when the Police Dog latched onto the “Bad Guy’s” (a Game Warder) padded arm, you should have heard the chorus of raucous howls from the canine audience. It was a good thing the audience was on leash!
