Along with being a rescue group, B.O.N.E.S. is also an education and referral service. Our goal is to help rehome beagles in need. Sometimes we get information about beagles that are available for adoption but are not under our care. On this page we will provide potential adopters with information on beagles that are in shelters or who remain with their current owners until a suitable home is found. B.O.N.E.S. cannot attest to the temperament or health of these dogs.

Backster

Backster

BACKSTER
adult (5 years), neutered male

Backster may just be the happiest beagle on earth. His tail wags non-stop, it is rumored that it may even wag while he is sleeping. He is always there to greet you with a smile, hug, kiss and wag. It does not get much better than that. You can not be sad around Backster. Maybe he is so happy because he is celebrating his retirement from research. He did his part for humanity, now it is his turn to be pampered and waited on hand and paw. He deserves it!

Backster is FABULOUS in his crate and is house trained to a schedule. He gets along famously with his Beagle foster sister and Mini Dachshund foster brother. He has not been around cats but considering he does not have a mean bone in his body, he would probably be fine with proper introduction.

Backster LOVES everyone he meets and the feeling is mutual. He is a fan favorite for sure! His dream family would be one with lots of members to dote on him all day. He wants to share the love ;)

If you want to be perpetually happy and experience an unconditional love like no other, consider adopting this gem of a Beagle. We may be starting Backster on medication for some mild seizures, but don't let that hold you back! He is an incredible beagle who will fill your home with smiles and laughter!

Snoopy

Snoopy

Hi, my name is Snoopy. I am a 7 year old Beagle that was surrendered to the Animal Rescue League of Boston because my owner no longer had the time to take care of me. I am a super cute dog that loves to cuddle and play with toys. I also love to go for walks and sniff around. I get along with other dogs and have been okay with cats here in the shelter. Since I am a beagle, I can be vocal but am also housetrained. During my vet exam, I had some blood drawn and the doctor told me that I have hypothyroidism. Luckily, this is easily treatable with medication that will not be costly but I will be on it for the rest of my life. I am an easy going guy and would love the chance to show you in person. Please come visit me at the Dedham Branch during our adoption hours.

Cody

Cody

Cody

Cody is a 3 yr old neutered male; he is very lovable and has energy to help you keep fit. He has been adopted out from our shelter twice (2) came back. I believe he went to the people with them having no knowledge of the breed. He has a tendency to let out a little growl, and snap at someone if he is not in the mood to do whatever it is his past owners wanted him to do. He never bit, never broke skin. The growl frightened those folks. If you know beagles, then you know the stubborn streak in them. I find he is absolutely wonderful here at the shelter, loves kisses, being held, and interacting. HOWEVER, Cody must be placed in a home (preferably) with someone who will be home a lot with him. He does not like being alone. There really should be no other dogs in the home as Cody wants to be the sole King. Cats are ok. I do not think he should be placed with small children in the home. Visiting children with supervision is ok.

He really is sweet, just has a few issues that I believe will mellow with the right folks, and time.

Leo

Leo

Leo

This poor guy has seen his share of heartache. Originally saved from a high kill shelter in the south, Leo has been through two homes and returned because they just didn’t understand him. Leo needs a home where his person is going to be around most of the day as he has a bit of anxiety about being left alone. Can you blame him after all he has been through in the last year? He is an older boy at 7 years and would love to find a home to rest his head and heart for the remainder of his years. He would do best as an only dog with no cats and kids 13+. Leo would make a wonderful companion for a retiree looking for a loving canine companion. www.spca914.com/

Mikey

Hello, my name is Mikey! I am a 5 year old, neutered male beagle. I am a very happy boy that just loves everyone. I am looking for my forever home. I love to play with my toys and to play with all other dogs; I also get along very well with children, and I like cats, but they don’t seem too fond of me.

As you can see, I am in a wheelchair. I was trying too hard to catch that squirrel! I may need my wheels forever, but I am making improvements everyday. If you are interested please contact Alison, Amanda or Susan at VESCONE at 781-684-8387. I look forward to meeting you!
