B.O.N.E.S. 10th Annual Beagle Bash took place on Saturday, September 28th at the Collinwood K-9 Services in Auburn, MA. What a perfect day! The weather couldn't have been any better, the volunteers were coming out of the woodwork to help, and most importantly, beagles, beagle wannabees and their owners came out in droves to help us celebrate our 10th anniversary as a rescue.
The pictures say it all! Thank you to everyone who took pictures and sent them in. We especially want to thank Pam Amaral and Judy Enright. You started snapping pictures the minute you walked in the door and didn't finish until the end of the day!
There were great presentations by Kate Fantoli and Shawn-Marie and John Bridges where people learned K-9 Nosework (a great game for any hound dog!) and Doggie CPR (for those rare times where your pooch needs help). Dogs could get pet messages, their nails clipped and their ears cleaned all for free and we know a lot of people took advantage of these services!
The 2014 calendar and our 10th anniversary t-shirts were on sale and boy did they sell! Everything "beagle" sold like wild fire! We had many other great vendors, some of whom have been coming to our Bash for years. We hope you took the time to stop, visit and buy things.
We had a great pet photographer who took pictures of everyone's dogs. Boy did they come out nice!
Our anniversary cake was just beautiful. A big thank you to Sandi Church for taking responsibility for ordering the cake and bringing it to the Bash! A lot of people were seen really enjoying the cake.
Pizza, soda and cookies fed everyone and many took advantage of the new Bash Cafe! Canopies, table and chairs were set up for people to sit down, eat lunch, talk to other beagle owners and based on feedback received it was a big hit. You can be sure the Bash Cafe will be back next year! Thank you Chuck Bowers and Jack Courtney for all your time. You made sure everyone got fed and really enjoyed themselves.
The Foster Dog Parade was a big hit as it always is! Many of our foster dogs who were at the Bash are in the process of going home to their forever families that met them, had time to visit and walk them and talk to their foster homes. Thanks to the many foster families who were able to bring their dogs and spend time chatting with potential adopters.
As always doggies games were a big hit. A lot of beagles participated this year and a lot of dogs went home with some great prizes.
The Raffle Baskets and Silent Auction items were beautiful. Alot of raffle tickets were in each pail when it came time to pick the winners. Thank you to everyone who donated this year. We know the winners were very happy!
We'd like to thank the 2013 Bash Committee for all their hard work. Robin Brousseau-you are a great co-chair! You offered your time and creative talents and helped keep Sharon Vartanian calm which is no easy feat! Robin and Sharon want to thank Tina Bellomy, Sally Bashalany, Lisa Natanson, Jennifer Lee, Kate Fantoli, Doug and Mary Clare Springer, Patty Sghia, Mardi Trendle and Patti Berg Anderson for all their hard work during the year to make this day such a success.
Doug Springer-thank you for creating such a great poster! It was the initial communication about the Bash and the top 10 that resonated throughout the whole planning process and was even seen on the day of the Bash with posters talking about Top 10 reason to foster, adopt a beagle, etc.
The Committee also wants to thank Abbie Pimentel for making all the great signs again this year. Making signs takes a lot of time and we appreciate all your hard work. Another big thank you to Christina Donato for filling out all the raffle tickets that people bought through Paypal. Filling out names and telephone numbers when people buy 50 tickets at a time is no easy feat.
The committee wants to send out a BIG thank you to Glenda Templet and Sandi Church, former Bash co-chairs, who acted in an advisory capacity, helping out the 2013 committee during the year by sharing their past experiences and all their contacts. The committee appreciated all they did in helping make this a great day. We also want to thank you for helping out on Saturday!
Last but not least - the Committee wants to thank all the volunteers who helped set up for the day, worked their shifts then stayed on if help was still needed, finished their shifts then helped in other areas and finally stayed to clean up. It takes a village to put on a Beagle Bash and the Committee wants to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all that you did. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
See you next year!!
